Jeju Island

The island of Jeju is an island with a large volcano, which is dominated by Halla-san (Halla Mountain): a volcano 1950 meters high and the highest mountain in South Korea.

It is an island consisting of approximately 175 miles (282 km) across, end to end, as widest as it occupies.

Also known as "the island of God", is a popular vacation spot for Koreans and other japones or even travellers. It became famous honeymoon's area for Korean newlyweds, and eventually became famous tourist spots in the world.

Also known as the "Hawaii of Korea", with its climate and geography have the similarity from the Hawaiian Islands in the U.S.

The Jeju island offers visitors a wide range of activities: hiking on Halla-san (the highest peak South Korea) or Olle-Gil (route), catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, horse riding, or even another neighbor rides available in the area or to savor the joy of lying around on the sandy beach of the island.

Although tourism is one of the main industries on the island, lots of hotels and other tourist areas are run by mainland companies, so much revenue that will not get back into the local economy of this island.

Also, since the attractions are geared towards tourists, many of entrance fees can be a much higher, while local resort owners and residents here wants the travelers made a cheaper deal for visiting this place.

Similar to Gyeongju and some other areas, local residents can enter most places for free or for a great discounted price. But the view and the sceneries you will not forget this island.

Here has a humid subtropical climate, a better climate warmer than the rest of Korea, with four distinct seasons.

Winters are cool and dry while the summers are hot, humid and sometimes rainy.

There is one lake in crater in this island.
